What is EGCG in Green Tea?

All plants contain compounds known as Phytochemicals which, when consumed, help protect us from disease. These Phytochemicals are divided into subcategories such as Polyphenols and Carotenoids. The most prolific of these Phytochemicals in Green Tea is known as epigallocatechin-3-gallate or EGCG for short. There have been many studies done on EGCG and the benefits have begun to pile up.
