I am an IFPA (International Fitness Perfectional Association) certified personal trainer and sports nutrition specialist. I believe in working hard to obtain your goals. I love my career, helping people reach their top fitness potential. I am currently filming a weekly fitness show, Cape Breton Health & Fitness. I also train individuals and groups, teaching them the skills they need to succeed and pushing them to their fitness limits. Popeye's helps me stay healthy. I usually shop in the Fort McMurray location. The staff is always very informative at Popeye's. I have always been an active person. I grew up horseback riding and playing school sports. I did not become serious about fitness until I was in high school. That's when I was involved in a bad car accident where I was ejected out the window and nearly lost my life. I started exercising with a physiotherapist and gradually progressed until I was able to join the local Sweeney's Gym. It was at this time, I realized that fitness was forever going to be a part of my life. My first training position was immediately after I became a personal fitness trainer (IFPA). I worked for a rehabilitation center helping injured people. Although I loved my clients and enjoyed my job, after a year, I decided to widen my scope of people and clients. I started taking nutrition at St. F.X. University. Then, I attended CSNN (Canadian School of Natural Nutrition). Eventually, I took more fitness courses through IFPA. I also became a certified sports nutrition specialist because I believe fitness and nutrition go hand-and-hand. If you only do one and not the other, you are only holding yourself back from a healthier you. I am a big snacker. I was never one to eat large meals, but I do like to eat often. I usually have six small meals a day, including some type of protein with each meal. I never let myself go hungry. If I am hungry, I eat a small meal. I try to have eight glasses of water a day. I fill a water jug in the morning that's marked 8 glasses on it, so I know I have to drink the entire jug by the end of the day. My biggest tip to anyone serious about fitness is plenty of hydration and proper rest.
