I have been active my whole life, participating in gymnastics, karate, soccer, lacrosse, and hockey (hockey being the major sport, where I played rep for 13 years). My newest interest and passion lies in the sport of bodybuilding and have quit hockey to pursue. I've been training for five years, five days per week, and started competing in 2007. My competition history includes the FAME Nationals 2007, in which I placed sixth in the Junior bodybuilding category. Following that, I returned to the gym with a fire burning inside me to redeem myself so-to-speak. On October 3rd, 2009 I accomplished just that as I competed in the second Annual Woodstock Bodybuilding, Fitness and Figure Championships. I placed first in both the Junior bodybuilding and Men's Light Heavyweight bodybuilding classes, as well as went on to win the Overall Men's Bodybuilding title. To date this has been my biggest accomplishment. I am still sitting on cloud nine from it, but once I come back down to earth I'll be going harder than ever preparing for my next competition sometime in 2010. My future aspirations are to eventually win my pro card...so keep an eye out for me!
I am an employee at the Popeye's® Mississauga store (in the Meadowvale Town Centre)! Since working at Popeyes, my knowledge, interest and passion in the fields of exercise, fitness and nutrition have grown significantly. Obviously proper nutrition and supplementation play a HUGE role in the sport of bodybuilding (as it does for any sport!) and so the knowledge I attain every day working in the store is an extremely valuable asset towards my bodybuilding progress.
Popeye's® has helped me in my personal bodybuilding quest and allowed me to do something I love every day - help people! Nothing pleases me more than having a customer come back into the shore and sharing their results with us! It's a truly rewarding job!
The best tip I could have for anyone regarding their nutrition program is DO YOUR RESEARCH! The best thing you can do to better yourself is educate yourself and so before trying the latest nutritional product, research the science behind it! I can't tell you how many times I've tried different strategies based on something I "heard in the gym" and it was only in the more recent years that I realized MANY of these ideas did not work. Why? Because there was no real sensible knowledge in them. Now I now question and investigate everything I change in my diet and the results can often be drastic!
In terms of training, just be honest with yourself and make sure you are giving it 110% every time. 110% effort in a "D-" training program will always yield better results than 10% effort in an "A+" training program.
