Popeye's® Athlete of the Month:
November 2008

Mike Lynds

Truro, Nova Scotia
Bodybuilder

I started bodybuilding by training for track and football. I actually tried out for the CFL but was unsuccessful and thought that I could improve my skills by using a muscle building program. At this time, I actually started to read all the magazines and began to take supplements using the diets provided in those mags. I have found over the years, like others that supplements are key in any level of dieting be it off season or precontest.

After a short period of time I really began to love the sport of bodybuilding and the changes that I saw in my own physique. I went to a few local shows and I asked many competitors for advice on the nutritional aspect of things. A few short months later I was convinced to participate in a Provincial show.

The first couple of times I really did not know what I was doing. In 2001, I placed fourth in the welter weight division but after a couple of years of knowledge began to realize how important supplements were to improve dieting.

I went to the next level and got an IFBB pro bodybuilder to train me in 2006. Dan Dufresne transformed what I thought was right in dieting and made me a better bodybuilder. With the knowledge I have received from him I won the middleweight and overall plus Best Poser at both the Nova Scotians and Atlantics in 2007.

I am currently trying to increase my size so I can make a good impact at my first attempt at the Canadian level. With Dan at my side and the excellent supplements I receive from popeyes, I believe my first time at Canadians will be a successful one.
