My name is Kenny Bernard, I am 24 years old and I was born and raised in the hidden gem that is Sarnia, Ontario. I just recently returned home from Odessa, Texas where I finished my second professional season as a hockey player. I began playing hockey south of the border after two successful seasons with my hometown Jr. B team, The Sarnia Blast. I was able to help my team win the Sutherland Cup which had not been in Sarnia for the past thirty years prior. I was then fortunately granted a full hockey scholarship by The Ohio State University where I enjoyed four great years and also the CCHA league championship. I was honored as the most improved player as a Junior and received the Scarlet and Gray Award for most intense player my Senior year.
After university, I played a season and a half with the Fresno Falcons of the ECHL and then moved to Odessa once the owners folded the team this past December. As a member of the Odessa Jackalopes I was able to help the team to the semi-finals where we unfortunately lost in game 7.
This summer I plan to continue training young aspiring hockey players from around the area. I got certified as a sport and conditioning trainer a year ago so this will be the second summer running the camp. I spend 4 days per week in the gym training kids for around 4 hours and then either workout for 2 hours before or after that.
