My name is Heather LeBlanc, I'm 35 years old and I've been training for approximately 6 years. Before I was introduced to this new lifestyle of training, clean eating and track practice, I weighed 140+ lbs at 4'11". When I hit rock bottom, I asked a trainer (Ti-Jean LeBlanc) to transform my body into something I had always dreamed about, but I never believed in a million years that it would become "a reality"! Within 8 weeks, I weighed less than 110 lbs and I was featured as one of the best transformations that anyone has seen in Southern New Brunswick. My transformation – before and after photos were featured in the Times and Transcript feature in the Moncton "Life & Times" Section in 2004, Muscle Mag International under the "Gossip Section" in 2005 and last but not least, finally the Success Story Headline on Pg 74 of Oxygen Magazine, December 2008. I started competing as a bodybuilder in 2004 and I moved on to Figure Competitions in 2005. I placed first in the 2005 New Brunswick Provincials and first in the 2007 New Brunswick Provincials. I've competed at the National Level in Figure twice and placed 8th and 11th.
I've recently retired from competing in Figure Competitions to take on a more larger role: part-time personal training, diet/nutrition consulting and customizing workout plans for clients through my ad on Kijiji and spending more time with my family. I'm also the Promoter of the Atlantic Classic Physique & Figure Championships along with my husband/trainer Ti-Jean LeBlanc, I'm a NBPFA Figure Judge and Figure Coordinator for the New Brunswick Physique & Figure Association and I also facilitate Figure Workshops for competitors. We recently had a record-breaking attendance of 31 women at our Figure Workshop this past fall. We also had 28 people attend our Spring Figure Seminar in March 2009.
My future goals would be to stay reasonably fit and toned in order to be ready for any upcoming photo shoots or trips down south. My goal is to help others obtain the same fitness goals I have and to motivate them to succeed and be the best! My advice to beginners or competitors: "If you lack the courage to start, you will never finish" and remember, this sport is tough, it's never easy, but the hardest thing to do, is always the best thing to do. Also keep in mind, it's "work in progress" and to never give up! You are in charge of your own destiny; if you can dream it, believe it can happen to you!
I always purchase products from Popeye's in Halifax / Dartmouth, NS. When getting ready for the Nationals, there were some supplements unavailable in the local area and I immediately contacted Popeye's for assistance.
I now do a lot of MET (Metabolic Enhancement Training), Plyometrics and cycle it every 4 weeks with Light Weight Training. I follow Scott Abels' Ultimate Figure Program and I mix up the exercises to keep my body guessing what I'm doing. I'm working hard to slim down my quads, as they are genetically huge for my small frame. I do a lot of Treadmill Interval Training for 30 minutes and spinning on the bike for 30 minutes at night or before my workouts. I train 5 days per week: Chest/Shoulders/Biceps/Core, Legs/Glutes, Back/Triceps/Core, Shoulders/Core, Plyometrics and abdominals 3-4 times per week. I train 6-7 clients per week and implement my workouts into their programs to shock their bodies.
